The 1st XI hosted Master Blasters from Aberdeen at Gilvenbank Park on Saturday in SPCU Division 1.
Batting first, a number of batters made good starts but could not push on to post individual high scores.
Standouts came from the youngsters, as opener Muhammad Tayyiub anchored the innings for a patient 31 before Karthik Coppisetty gave some mid-innings impetus with a number of big shots out of the ground for his 33. In the end, Glens were bowled out for 232 with one ball remaining with the visitors Muhammad Laghari the stand-out bowler with three wickets 30 runs.
The Master Blasters innings went much the same way, with a number of batters making good starts but not pushing on. Young Ben Krzyzanowski made the early breakthrough, and from there further wickets were to fall leaving the visitors 127 for six with just over 20 overs to go.
Glens will have been confident of closing out the win, but Master Blasters kept attacking supported by the profligacy of wide balls bowled by the Glens attack the target continued to fall. But it was to Muhammad Tayyiub and Sufyan Ahmed to turn the game as they each finished with three wickets, with Ahmed taking the final wicket to bowl out Master Blasters for 223 with just over one over to go.
