Glenrothes welcomed Perth Doo'cot 2nd XI to Gilvenbank Park on Saturday in the Strathmore and Perthshire Cricket Union (SPCU) Division 1.
Perth won the toss and surprisingly chose to bat first on a soft pitch. Two early wickets to Bimal Nalupurakkal Balan suggested it was the wrong choice.
With Mayank Sautiyal claiming the wicket of Joe Watts with a catch by Ben Krzyzanowsk in the gully, he was to claim a second in the same over trapping Giby Vadassery LBW.
Perth Doo'cot 35 for four but with big-hitting Jack McCreanor, who had shown his batting credentials in the abandoned fixture in Perth earlier this season, at the crease Perth will have been confident of pushing the total up.
Glens though continued to bowl well, with Sautiyal claiming four wickets and Muhammad Osama three wickets.
Numbers 10 and 11 though were to show the batting application missing from others (scoring 15 runs each), pushing the score from 64 for 8 to 136 all out - Krzyzanowski claiming the final wicket as McCreanor holed out for 46.
Glens openers Osama and Sufyan Ahmed looked to swing hard though with little timing in their shots could not overly dominate the Perth bowling.
With rain now falling, and a quick break taken as the tarpaulin cover was used to protect the wicket, Glens were to lose two wickets - Ahmed bowled by Adnan Zadran and then Osama retired out.
This buoyed the visiting team, and their vocal dominance started to exert pressure - Glens slipping to 38 for five!
It was though to be Balan to claim a second player of the match performance in recent days, with a well constructed 35. Some late hitting by skipper Qasim Ahmad saw his team scrape a nervy win!
