Meigle 199 all out v 121 all out Glenrothes

Glenrothes welcomed Meigle to Gilvenbank Park on Saturday for the penultimate round of fixtures in the SPCU North East Championship. Meigle won the toss and elected to bat.

Meigle posted 199 all out from 45.1 overs, with a strong innings from Thinesh Sivagnanam (67 from 57) providing the backbone. Glenrothes bowled with good intent: Bimal Balan continued his excellent form up front, taking 4 for 33 from 10 overs, well supported by Mayank Sautiyal with 3 for 35. Anas Tanveer bowled a tidy spell as fourth change, though an earlier introduction might have helped shift the pace. Glenrothes created plenty of chances but were left frustrated by too many dropped catches, allowing Meigle to rebuild at key moments.

In reply, Glenrothes reached 121 all out in 27.4 overs. Govind Singh showed positive intent at the top of the order, making 41 from 52 balls, though wickets fell around him at regular intervals. As has been the case in other matches, run rate was never the issue for the 1st XI - the challenge remains pacing the innings across the full 50 overs and defending their stumps more consistently. Contributions from Qasim Ahmad (23) and Muhammad Osama (17) kept Glenrothes in the contest, but Meigle’s bowlers, led by Charles Clark’s 5 for 44, maintained control throughout.

Despite the defeat, Glenrothes showed positive moments and know they can do better with mindset shifts. With one round left, the team will look to finish the season strongly and continue building on the lessons learned.
