Eight Wicket Win In The Capital

Glenrothes made the trip to Edinburgh on Saturday to play Marchmont in the ESCA Division 1 match, skipper Ian Dale lost the toss and Glenrothes where asked to field in perfect conditions, opening bowlers Farooq Khan and Chris Greaves right from the start bowling very tightly giving away few runs and getting great support from the guys in the field.

Wickets started to fall at regular intervals with batsmen getting frustrated and the pressure being put on them by the tight bowling from all the bowlers used, special mention must go to all-rounder Stephen Rowley for getting a five wicket hall. Marchmont were eventually bowled out for a total of 101 all out a very reachable target for the Glenrothes batsmen.

Glenrothes innings started in a positive manner with both opening batsmen keeping the score board ticking over and had reached 54 runs before the first wicket fell with Stephen Rowley being stumped for a fine knock of 25, the score moved on to 60 when the next wicket fell that of Greig Hopcroft for again a fine knock of 30.

This brought Chris Greaves and Guy Robinson the latter looking to score his first runs for his new club both batsmen steadily building a partnership that would see Glenrothes to a 8 wicket victory.
