On a damp, windy Saturday Glenrothes 3rd XI were at Gilvenbank Park. The ground was very soft under foot and still damp from some horrid weather, but Dunbar CC travelled through and a game was played.
The 3s skipper won the toss and elected to bat. In absolute need of some batting form the team seemed up for the challenge and with a couple of changes within the team hopes were high. However the batting demons returned to haunt the team. Only a slow 23 from the skipper and a dogged 19 by Brian Russel were the high lights in a very hard scoring innings on a very damp pitch. There was some good straight bowling from Dunbar CC which the 3s found hard to score from and frustration soon set in making shot decision a downfall, leading to a total of 91.
Still, with a total, although small the team stayed in high spirits and tried to continue some decent form in the field. Dunbar CC also found it hard to score at any rate, but they were finding the gaps in the field, again more frustration for the 3s. They finally reached the 3s total with 4 wickets remaining.
Another defeat for the 3s, but the skipper still feeling positive and looking forward to 2 very important games in the coming weeks.
