On a breezy cold day the 3rd XI travelled through to the wonderful venue ‘The Meadows’ in Edinburgh for a game against SMRH 3rd XI.
After winning the toss the skipper decided to field first, full of positive energy the team took the field. An excellent opening spell by C Muir and G Morris reducing the hosts to 27 for 0 after 10 overs. After the first change the batsman who were set decided to push the run rate on but some excellent fielding saw the hosts restricted to 75 for 0 at drinks. With some more great fielding and some tight bowling the hosts finished on 182 for 5 from there 40 overs.
Still feeling positive we took the field with Ian Green and the skipper opening, the skipper did not stay long after an excellent ball took out his off stump. However Joe Burton joined Ian and they both stayed in the middle until the 18th over but scoring was very hard work with some accurate bowling from the hosts.
Wickets continued to fall throughout the innings but a dogged innings from Ian Green saw on to 112 for 9 after 40 overs.
A defeat by 70 runs but still positives for the skipper to take into the final 2 games of the season.
