Tough day for glens 3s with some positives to take

Well another loss for glens 3s. (hopefully can avoid writing that again going forward)

Tough day at the ramsay oval for Glens 3s on Saturday afternoon. Having lost the toss, Glens were asked to field on what was at the time a nice dry day and dry outfield. Things started well with a tight spell from both Snook and Morris (the old one) and an early wicket for snook to get us off to a good start. After 10 overs DT were 25-1.

Qasim the first change for Morris also breaking through a couple of overs later, and things were looking good. At this stage Jamal came in to bat. The odd chance went down and DT began to kick on. At drinks DT managing to make 73-2. Jay having come on to bowl at times looked great. When using his main strengths in his height he proved to be unplayable. Jay learning from every game he plays. Just needs to try avoiding the wides when pushing too hard. Bear also came on and again at times looked great and was good to see him get a spell for the 3s.
Gouldy not lasting long bowling 1 over (just) having injured his back. After 27 overs DT now in a very strong 139-4 with Saqlain joining in with a couple of wickets bowling well. Even the captain decided to join in with a bowl and got his first wicket (in his first spell) of the season.
The old Morris again coming back on to bowl at the end cleaning up with 4 wickets having bowled a great spell today.

Fielding not quite as strong as last week with a very quiet day from the Glens 3s. Lets get some noise back in the squad for the remainder of the season. And 1 thing for the bowlers to work on in training is avoiding wides. 2 games in a row with over 30 wides. Not only adding 30 to the score, but giving the opposition an extra 5 overs worth.

Some heave rain had fell towards the end of DT's innings and had a notable difference to the outfield, slowing it down drastically, with 4s proving difficult to come by for them.

Onto the batting for the glens. Early loss of opener Qasim getting caught for 0, Murray getting out LBW for 5. Chris Yarwood and J Burton looking to see of the openers doing well sticking about. Eventually C Yarwood getting bowled for 9.

This brought I Green to bat alongside J Burton, now at the 18 over mark with glens behind the run rate on 38-3. Green getting his eye in for a couple of overs decided to loosen beginning to find the boundry to look to push on the score J Burton eventually getting bowled for 11. G Morris then looking for a run that wasn't there was sent back only to be run out. C Gould bravely coming out barely able to move. Gould showing great attacking intent looking to go solely for boundries as he was struggling to walk or run. Gouldy batting well, getting the score moving along for a fine 22.

Glens now playing for points really saw 3 quick wickets for Jay, Bear and snook. Green batted to the end for a 39no at 40 overs with Saqlain on 1.

Some positives to take, the captain finally deciding to join in with some batting, finally making 40 overs (1st time this year). Really need to look to ensure going forward to try to avoid losing wickets in such quick succession.

No game next week with Teuchters no longer in the league, and as I am aware the next week I hope the Glens 3s go onto get a victory against Morton.
