The first game of a double-header at Gilvenbank Park on Saturday 10th July saw Glenrothes 2nd XI take on Meigle 2nd XI on the Ramsay Oval in the Breedon Strathmore and Perthshire Cricket Union (SPCU) Division 2.
Meigle batted first, in a game agreed to be reduced to 35 overs each, and found themselves in trouble through a combination of good bowling (Dave Snook 3-31 and Ravi Kiran 1-44) and low-bounce on the artificial pitch. But an outstanding 6th wicket unbroken partnership between Udaya (113 not out) and Croll (47 not out) full of agressive shots saw Meigle post 215 for 5.
With father and son combination of Joe and Charlie Burton opening the innings, it was Joe taking on the aggressor role and he had scored 39 in good time before being run out. Muhammad Talha (25) was to provide some further support, though after he was dismissed there was to be further wickets to fall - including young Gladiators Muhammad and Karthik being bowled round their legs stepping across. Throughout all this, young Charlie Burton (15*) butted with great confidence and control to "carry his bat" through the innings, with Glenrothes finishing on 110 for 6 from 35 overs.

Thanks to Meigle for a great game.
