T20 Fun at Upper Largo

A mixed Glenrothes XI visited Upper Largo on Thursday night for a T20 friendly against Largo XI, with the sun shining down giving a nice relaxed feel to the game! That relaxed feel could also have had something to do with Glenrothes not knowing what strips to wear, either white clothing or yellow strips, and with neither actually confirmed most ended up playing in their civvies!

Largo negotiated the toss and put Glenrothes into bat first. It's safe to say that the young and inexperienced team struggled for timing throughout the innings, not quite figuring out how to play the copious amounts of "moon balls" bowled by the home team.

It was Sufyan Ahmed to give the impetus to the innings, hitting a quick fire 30 retired not out but with the experienced Largo bowlers running through the tail, he was to return facing a hat-trick ball from Udayan - and was bowled off an inside edge first ball giving the bowler his deserved hat-trick and Glenrothes finishing on 96 all out.

Gilmour batted well opening the innings, taking his time to start with but soon finding some good shots. But much like the Glens struggled with their timing so did Largo - not in their shot-making, but in their ability to judge runs as four run-outs were completed, three to young Gulawrang Matanai.

But the full batting line up was able to use their experience and keep the scoreboard ticking over, before the winning run was hit in the final over to see Largo to a winning score of 97 for 8.
