Glenrothes 2nd XI welcomed unbeaten Perth Doo'cot 2nd XI to Gilvenbank Park last Saturday in the SPCU Division 2.
Skipper for the day Kevin Le Roux won the toss and invited the visitors to bat first. The young opening bowlers Muhammad Tayyiub and Ben Krzyzanowski put early pressure on with good bowling, but a number of dropped catches and half-chances gave Doo'cot a good start.
It was to be fellow youngster Rahman Tawheedi to make the breakthrough as he had Assad caught by Tayyiub for 10. This brought Masood to the crease and he went on the attack from ball one - which in turn gave opener Jennings the confidence to start hitting his shots also
The dropped catches and half-chances continued to blight Glens progress, but it was to be the Glens young bowlers to eventually fightback as Tayyiub, Krzyzanowski and Karthik Coppisetty each took two wickets (including dismissing Masood for 72 and Jennings for 44) in an impressive display.
Perth Doo'cot eventually ending on 215 for 7 in their 40 overs. Glens will have known a better fielding display could have made a huge difference, but the bowling display was impressive nonetheless.
Le Roux faced a tricky time for the second innings - both in figuring out the batting line up and in going out himself as opener to face the impressive Masood - who was to make a double breakthrough early on to dismiss Le Roux and young Saad Naeem.
Karthik Coppisetty soon took the attack too Doo'cot, hitting a few boundaries with impressive timing and power - but his nemesis (any slow bowling) was to be his downfall as he was bowled by Assad for 22.
Unfortunately wickets continued to fall, though a number of small partnerships continued to build the score - and Glens happy to just sneak to 75 mark for their second batting bonus point before being bowled all out.
An impressive display by all in the Perth Doo'cot 2s team, matched by their positive approach in playing the game fairly and with fun.
