Glenrothes 2nd XI hosted St Modans 2nd XI from Bannockburn at Gilvenbank Park in Glenrothes in an SPCU Division 2 fixture on Saturday.

Glens Captain Paul Culleton won the toss and asked the eight of St Modans to bat first.

Glens opened the bowling with Kevin Le Roux and Joe Myles, with the opening partnership swinging hard and scoring quickly.

After eight over, change bowlers Muhammad Tayyiub and Ben Krzyzanowski joined the game though with no real change, the openers still swinging hard.

The score moved to to 64 before the first wicket fell as Krzyzanowski saw Morgan caught by Garry Tighe, and to the young bowlers delight his next ball claimed wicket number two as he bowled Wakefield off the last ball of the over.

Next over from Tayyiub produced two more wickets, including a composed run out from Rahman Tawheedi.

The score still on 64 with four wickets down, but the pressure was on Krzyzanowski the bowler now as came came running in on his hat trick ball, and with sheer delight another one falls - Jham bowled.

St Modans moved onto 70 when the final wicket fell to Wahab Tawheedi, trapping last batter Pollock LBW.

A pleasing performance from the Glens, when there heads could have dropped after a good start from St Modans but the team dug in and worked hard.

Glens went out with a positive attitude with the bat, with a fast start from Tayyiub and Wahab Tawheedi, though their dismissals followed by a third wicket felt like there was a potential wobble in the game.

But the required runs are chased down within 10 overs, with Skipper Culleton top scoring with 27.

A very satisfactory first win for the 2s of the season, still with plenty to work on as the team moves on with a new found confidence after a few games which slipped from their grasp in recent weeks.

A huge thanks to the St Modans team for coming through despite a player shortage.
