On Sunday, the 2nd XI travelled to Dundee to play Kinloch 3rd XI in the SPCU Division 3.
Kinloch batted first, and their strong top-order looked threatening throughout but all credit goes to a mixture of young and not-so-young in the Glens team for bowling and fielding well to keep them restricted throughout.
Talal Iqbal was top scorer with 34, more than matched by three wickets each to Kevin Le Roux and young Anas Tanveer along with great fielding from young Wahab Tawheedi to claim a run-out and skipper Joe Burton with a stunning one-handed catch. Kinloch bowled out for 133 in the 37th over.
Glens got off to a flier as Ikram Ullah (21) hit out hard, but it was to be Tanveer to be the game-changer as he batted fantastically to score his first senior level half-century.
They do say reaching a milestone score can release the shackles of fear and bat with freedom, and this was to be the case with Tanveer - but not in a positive way. Having reached 50, his reverse pull against slow-bowler Gregor Kiddie resulted in a lobbed catch to mid-off instead.
Kiddie was to take two more wickets, finishing with three for 22, but Glens were able to push on with Jordan Smith hitting the winning runs in the 37th over.
A great start to the season for the Glenrothes teams with two wins from two games each, and they will be hoping to keep such a run going this weekend. On Saturday, the 1st XI will be hosting Rossie Priory at Gilvenbank Park whilst the 2nd XI will make the relatively short trip to Charlestown to play Broomhall.
