Following an unbeaten start in the first two rounds of the Strathmore and Perthshire Cricket Union (SPCU), Glenrothes Cricket Club suffered two losses on Saturday.
The 2nd XI made the relatively short trip to Charlestown in South Fife to play Broomhall.
Glenrothes skipper Joe Burton won the toss and bowled first, though the home team batted with confidence throughout.
Jordan Smith was to claim the first wicket with 42 runs on the board, Angus Robertson (14) hit a catch to debutant Mandeep Singh Rathore.
From there, an excellent century stand between opener Jack Hynd and Euan Breen put Broomhall in control.
Rathore was to take a caught and bowled to dismiss Hynd for 63, and soon after young spinner Wahab Tawheedi bowled Scott Lucas for 10.
But Breen was to find the perfect batting partner in Neil Millar as both batted with confidence and hit regular boundaries.
Breen was to go on to hit a fantastic century, finishing 103* not out, and Millar was to finish not far behind on 82* as Broomhall finished their 40 overs on 312 for three.
Two early wickets put Glenrothes significantly under pressure, but it was to be the youngsters Karthik Coppisetty and 14 year old Joe Myles to rebuild.
Coppisetty in particular showed his 1st XI credentials as he batted with confidence and aggression to put the Broomhall bowlers under pressure.
It was to be one-shot too many for Coppisetty (39) as he was bowled by Gags Gahlon.
Rathore was to be able to get into double figures, but with his dismissal to Surender Panchal there was to be flurry of further wickets as Panchal went on to claim four for 26,
Young Myles showed his potential with a gritty innings - batting in searing heat with scorecard pressure, showing maturity well beyond his years.
It was to be another youngster, Wahab Tawheedi, to show some determination also as he struck a well made 38 and with Myles also falling for 37 it was not long until Glenrothes were to be bowled out 148.
