With rain decimating much of the Strathmore and Perthshire Cricket Union (SPCU) fixutures on Saturday, Glenrothes and Largo 2s took the sensible decision to play a reduced 20 overs-a-side match.
Glenrothes 2s batted first, with the top four all making solid double-digit starts, but none could push on to a substantial score. It was though particularly pleasing to see young Joe Myles make more runs in the top order.
Wickets to Largo youngsters Innes McDonald and Eilidh MacLeod, and the usual tight bowling and wickets from Gareth Miles, had Glenrothes in some trouble at 64 for five (then 84 for six).
The relative veterans of Ikram Ullah (27*, runs not years) and Kevin Le Roux (11*) were able to push the score up to 116 for six at the end of 20 overs.
Largo were soon in trouble as the slipped to 14 for three, as Glenrothes' young Gladiators made an excellent start - two wickets to Rahman Tawheedi and a first wicket in senior cricket for Archie Taylor.
A mid-innings rebuild by the classy Ian Brown (37*) and Gareth Miles (18) brought Largo back into the game, but scoreboard pressure saw young Wahab Tawheedi claim two wickets as Largo 2s finished on 86 for 5 from their 20 overs.
Another good win for the 2nd XI, with the mix of youth and experience building their confidence every week.
