Glenrothes 2nd XI slipped to a 48‑run defeat against Largo 2nd XI on Saturday, but there were still positives to take from a competitive outing.
Largo batted first and posted 150 for 8, with contributions spread throughout their order. The standout was young Murdo Duncan, whose composed 28 helped boost their innings.
Glens kept things tight with the ball, sharing wickets across the attack and maintaining pressure throughout. A special moment came from debutant Paul Ede, who took a fantastic catch that lifted the team and capped a strong first appearance.
Chasing 150, Glenrothes found conditions increasingly tricky. Whether it was the pitch slowing or the scoreboard pressure building, the innings never quite found momentum. Regular wickets stalled progress, and the side were eventually bowled out for 102, falling short despite battling hard.
Congratulations to Largo on their win, and best wishes to the players who picked up injuries during the match - our whole club hopes for a quick recovery.
