Glenrothes 2nd XI made the trip to Doune on Saturday for their SPCU Division 3 fixture, with both captains agreeing to a T20 format to beat the incoming rain.
Asked to bat first, Glenrothes produced a spirited performance built around contributions from their young top order and a steadying hand in the middle.
Opening pair Karthik Coppisetty (48) and Wahab Tawheedi (15) gave Glenrothes an excellent platform, scoring freely in the early overs and pushing the side past 50 inside seven overs. Coppisetty played with confidence and brutality, punishing anything short and keeping the run rate healthy.
As Doune tightened their bowling, wickets began to fall, but Dipu Das (25)* held the innings together with a composed knock. His ability to rotate the strike and keep calm under pressure ensured Glenrothes reached a competitive total, even as the final overs yielded fewer runs.
Defending their score, Glenrothes started tidily with the ball, keeping Doune’s openers honest in the early exchanges. This included young Archie Taylor bowling a tidy spell. While the attack worked hard, the home side’s experience showed as they built partnerships and kept the chase under control.
Glenrothes’ fielding effort was mixed - moments of commitment, but also chances that went down and stops that could have been cleaner. Against a well‑managed chase, those small lapses made the difference.
Despite the bowlers’ persistence and spells of pressure, Doune kept the scoreboard moving and completed the chase with overs to spare.
