Falkland 3rd XI 115 a/o v 118-1 Glenrothes 2nd XI

Glenrothes 2nd XI’s trip over the Lomonds delivered exactly what they needed: a composed, confident performance built on discipline with the ball and authority with the bat. The young Falkland 3rd XI side showed real heart throughout, but Glenrothes’ experience and control told as they secured a comfortable nine‑wicket win in SPCU Division 3.

Falkland chose to bat, but it was Glenrothes who seized the early momentum. Kevin Le Roux and Rahman Tawheedi struck quickly, removing both openers and setting the tone.

At number three, Cameron Paton played with maturity and purpose. His innings of 42 held the hosts together as wickets fell around him - another to Le Roux, then one each to Jordan Smith and Dipu Das.

But the standout moment for Falkland came from debutant Innes Brown, who showed composure beyond his years. While the lower order collapsed - Das, Wahab Tawheedi and Joe Myles each adding a wicket - Brown kept fighting. His excellent 39 lifted Falkland to 115 before he became the final wicket, bowled by Wahab Tawheedi.

A spirited effort from Falkland, but Glenrothes’ sharpness in the field and relentless pressure with the ball were exactly what skipper Joe Burton would have wanted.

Chasing 116, Glenrothes wasted no time. Das and Wahab Tawheedi opened brightly, rotating well and punishing anything loose.

But Falkland’s young star Brown wasn’t done. He claimed the only wicket of the innings, having Tawheedi caught behind by Struan Keddie for 14 - Glens 44/1.

From there, the chase became a showcase of intent. Karthik Coppisetty joined Das and immediately went on the attack. Boundaries flowed, and the only remaining question was whether Das could reach his half‑century before the target was reached.

He fell just short, finishing on a composed 48, while Coppisetty powered to 39, sealing victory in the 15th over.

A commanding win for Glenrothes, built on disciplined bowling, energetic fielding, and a clinical chase. Falkland’s youngsters - especially debutant Brown - deserve huge credit for their resilience and flashes of real promise.

This result will give Glenrothes confidence as they push forward through the season, while Falkland can take pride in the emerging talent shining through.
